TW Telecom has a lot to talk about. As one of the top three Ethernet providers in the country, TW Telecom was the first to make fiber, facilities-based, business Ethernet widely available to enterprises and organizations, including law firms, back in early 2003. So it’s no surprise that they are back making headlines with another industry changing “first.” For the past twenty years now, TW Telecom has been connecting offices with their private, completely secure and rapid Internet connections. They’ve made a lot of advances over the years, but to hear the excitement and enthusiasm in their voices as they discuss their latest developments, it would seem they were just getting started. This fall, the worldwide, fiber infrastructure titans of TW Telecom, will launch their Intelligent Network service with a whole new level of capability and customization. With the new service, clients are able to manually adjust their bandwidth in real-time, according to their specific needs. For instance, legal firms can dynamically allocate additional network capacity to meet an immediate video disposition request, and then resume normal bandwidth quickly after the conference. They will be able to control and allocate incremental costs depending upon project. They also get unprecedented visibility and control of their network performance – in real time. “The explosion of applications is driving consumer bandwidth consumption pretty dynamically,” said Ron Martin, vice president and general manager of TW Telecom in Phoenix. “But enterprises are forced to buy bandwidth according to their peak events and needs. However, if an event happens just once a month for a few hours, or there is an immediate need for additional network capacity, TW Telecom service users pay for only the incremental block of usage increase.” Seems simple enough, but it’s never been done before. When the new service is available, clients will gain complete visibility and control of all of their usage data. “This gives legal firms an opportunity to have a real-time look into the metrics of their network performance,” said TW Telecom’s Vice President of Corporate Communications, Bob Meldrum. “With that visibility, they also have the control to make any changes they need.” If they have a scheduled, recurring event, the additional bandwidth can be set up to adjust automatically. With the advanced new portal, customers acquire complete dominion over their network, and by extension, their bottom line. “If they need two or three hours of additional network capacity, they will know how much that’s going to cost and how to allocate costs, before they make the purchase,” Meldrum said. “In a matter of seconds, they schedule the event, and afterwards it goes back to the original capacity.” Headquartered in Littleton, Colo., TW Telecom’s 28,000 miles of fiber enables customized connectivity, catered to meet the needs of each individual business or enterprise. Their unique capabilities facilitate private, secure and predictable connections between offices, or among headquarters and many offices, and to colocations or data centers. “Many companies are using data centers because of the ability to be secure against any disruption or disaster,” Meldrum said. TW Telecom serves enterprises in industries such as healthcare, financial services, government, military, and the law. Some of the legal firms TW Telecom serves in Phoenix include Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, Gallagher & Kennedy PA, and Osborn Maledon. In addition to Phoenix and Tucson, TW Telecom has sales, service and operations offices in 75 cities across the country. Their robust product portfolio includes voice, VoIP, IP VPN, security, Internet, data and more. Networks are closely monitored for quality from their two national operations centers, located in Denver and St. Louis. While their growth has been rapid, at their core, TW Telecom values a close, sincere, mutually beneficial, client relations atmosphere. They employ local teams ready to take care of any situation in a hands-on, friendly manner. “We are very collaborative and responsive in working with customers. We work with them to craft solutions to solve their problems and meet their needs,” Meldrum said. “They tell us our customer experience is industry leading.”
