As a young boy, personal injury lawyer Bill Alcock’s plans were to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both decorated veterans of the New York City Fire Department. As an adult, Bill fulfilled those dreams by becoming a paramedic. As a proud, third-generation member of the New York City Fire Department, Bill dedicated himself to serving his fellow man. Nothing compared to the gratification he got from saving lives and helping others in need. However, an on-the-job injury prevented Bill from continuing his career with the fire department and forced him to re-think his entire future. This event, however unfortunate, led Bill to envision a new path in life. “After some soul searching, I realized that I had an opportunity to pursue another dream” he said. “I was always interested in the law and my injury presented me with the opportunity to pursue that interest.” After relocating to Arizona with his wife, Bill received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. He went on to receive a Master of Laws in Biotechnology and Genomics Law. After law school, Bill worked for a national defense firm representing major manufacturers in product defect litigation. He credits the experience with making him the well-rounded attorney he is today. As founding partner of the Phoenix-based, personal injury firm, Alcock & Ogborne, PLC, the accomplished attorney focuses primarily on personal injury law, civil litigation and criminal defense. “Ultimately, I missed the satisfaction of working with and helping real people, particularly those who have been harmed,” he said. “I enjoy the chance to ease some of the worries and concerns of my clients and help them get their lives back on track following a major injury.” Bill felt personal injury law was an excellent opportunity to serve his community because he knew firsthand how an injury can have a devastating effect on one’s life. “People should be able to focus on healing and getting their lives back on track after an injury rather than fighting with insurance companies and bill collectors,” he said. “Taking some of the stress and burden away from my clients and allowing them to focus on recovering from their injuries are essential components of my practice.” Alcock serves a variety of clients, and he makes a point to get to know each and every one of them personally. “I don’t feel that I can properly represent someone if I don’t get to know the individual behind the claims,” he said. “One of the reasons I started a personal injury practice is to be able to work with people and to do that I need to learn who they are as individuals.” Above all, Bill always strives to be the smartest and hardest-working attorney he can be for his clients. “Nothing is more rewarding and satisfying than a happy client.”
