It takes a village… We hear this phrase a lot as a metaphor for teamwork: banding together around a cause. The origins of the phrase suggest that it requires the efforts of an entire village to raise a child, but the concept of it is universal. “It takes a village” was an integral part of the original concept of Aspire; to really showcase the combined and cooperative impact that so many of our members have through their support of the Academy and their work in the community. We welcome Dr. Pariser as the chair of the newly formed Council on Community, Corporate and Philanthropic Relations, and together look forward to growing our AAD village by expanding and deepening the work established by Dr. Bill Hanke, past chair of the Development Committee. At a time when the specialty is experiencing so many changes, the Academy is working hard to meet the needs of all of our members. Working closely with the Community, Corporate and Philanthropic Relations staff, our goals are to impact the communities where our patients live and work, support the ever-growing programs and services needed for the specialty, recognize the breadth of impact our members have in their communities, and raise the financial resources needed to successfully achieve these goals. So much of what we do is made possible by the companies who support the initiatives and programs of the Academy. We are also fortunate to have donors who give to the Academy every year, and we hope you will join them in supporting the work that impacts lives and communities across the country. This is the village that makes the Academy—we are glad you are a part of it, and we hope you will “aspire” to provide your impact and support on behalf of your community and the specialty. Sincerely,
