Sunday, July 15 – Friday, July 20, 2018 "No matter how much we enjoy the beauty of a sunny day, there’s no reason to let skin health suffer. Everyone in my family over the age of 40 has had a scare. I want to set an example for my kids and protecting my skin is an easy way to live life to the fullest without sacrificing my wellness." – Cynthia O’Leary Next stop: Alaska! Be a part of the next group of Skin Cancer, Take a Hike! adventurers! Since 2014, the AAD has hosted Skin Cancer, Take a Hike! events in Mt. Kilimanjaro, Georgia, Texas, California, Illinois, Patagonia, and more. Now, sign up for the Alaska hike to join this important fundraising event, benefitting the AAD’s SPOT Skin Cancer™ campaign. All hikers must raise and/or donate a minimum of $10,000. Through your support, you will help the AAD save lives and reduce the incidence of skin cancer by providing free skin cancer screenings, building shade structures, installing sunscreen dispensers where people enjoy outdoor sports and activities, and educating the public on the importance of skin cancer detection and prevention. Hikes in your area AAD member Kimberly J. Butterwick, MD, wanted to bring Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ to her community, so she is hosting a hike in San Diego this year. “With skin cancer diagnoses still increasing every year, I think it’s important to increase public awareness about the need for early detection and prevention strategies,” Dr. Butterwick says. “Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ offers a fun, engaging activity that encourages community participation. Not only will hikers be involved but they will tell their friends and families and the message will spread. This type of shared experience is often most impactful.“ To learn more, call: (847) 240-1748 or email firstname.lastname@example.org To see what hikes are available in your community, visit: www.aad.org/SCTAH
