Last year in November, two students from Arizona Law, Joseph Ezzo and Brandon Espinoza, competed in the 41st Annual Jenckes Competition and were successful in their attempt to hold on to the Jenckes Bowl. Both third year students, prepared and presented a closing argument in 35 minutes. Named after UA Law alumnus Joseph S. Jenckes, the Jenckes competition is an annual closing argument competition between the University of Arizona and Arizona State University law colleges, and is sponsored and judged by the Arizona Chapter of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Ezzo and Espinosa were selected in a preliminary round, judged by law Professor Tom Mauet, to determine the finalists to represent the College of Law. Winner and runnersup receive cash prizes and, “of course, legal immortality,” states Mauet. The latter is accomplished by inscribing the winners’ names on the Jenckes Bowl, which is held at the winning college until the following year. Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Joseph A.
