Four months. That is the number of months we have left to fund the programs that are important to our specialty and our community. We think it is important — either as an individual donor or a corporate partner — that you know our goal and where we’re at in the process. After all, the impact of our programs is dependent on your generosity. In each issue of Aspire we show you where we are this year against our goal (see below) to raise individual and corporate support for programs and services that benefit our membership, as well as humanitarian and educational activities that benefit the public. As you can see, it seems like a long distance to sprint, but every year our individual donors and corporate partners help us cross the finish line to ensure the Academy continues delivering the highest quality programs and services to our members, their patients, and the public. Having said that, we know that our fundraising goals are aggressive for an organization such as ours — but only through these resources can the Academy offer the innovative initiatives we continue to develop to support the needs of the specialty in today’s world. The aggressive goals also help us deliver humanitarian programs that are making a difference in the lives of people where we all work and live. There are many ways to contribute to the Academy: personal donations; corporate grants; partnerships or sponsorships; tribute donations in recognition of someone special; setting up scholarships in your name or the name of someone who mentored you; holding an event to benefit the AAD; and launching or participating in Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ And speaking of Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™, learn more about the upcoming hike in Patagonia (see page 13)! With all the ways to give to the Academy and make an impact, we invite you to join us. Be like others who have already made a philanthropic contribution to the Academy or have become a corporate partner this year. Support your specialty, your patients and others in your community.
